Visas and passport
Requirements for EU citizens
- •Citizens of the European Union, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein only need a valid identity document or passport to enter Spain.
- •No visa is required for stays of up to 90 days.
- •For stays longer than 90 days, registration with the corresponding Immigration Office is necessary.
Requirements for other countries
- •Citizens of many countries (USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, etc.) can enter without a visa for tourist stays of up to 90 days.
- •For stays longer than 90 days or for work/studies, it is necessary to apply for a visa at the corresponding Spanish consulate.
- •Check the official Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs website: www.exteriores.gob.es (Consular Services for visas and requirements by country).
Required documentation
- •Valid passport with at least 3 months validity remaining.
- •Return ticket or continuation of journey.
- •Travel insurance covering medical expenses (recommended).
- •Proof of sufficient funds for the stay (if requested).
